Remote Family Engagement through Virtual Tutoring: An Emergency Response to Support Children, Families, and Students

Family engagement is a reciprocal relationship between educators and families that supports whole child development. In response to the unique contexts situations created by COVID-19 pandemic, faculty member in School of Education at Hunter College, City University New York (SOE), had opted 100 percent remote instruction for their children conceptualized virtual tutoring model supplemented supported asynchronous instruction, learning, The also gave fieldwork interns SOE early childhood program opportunity engage authentic teaching learning experiences; plan implement culturally linguistically responsive activities; assess development, engagement. this field note, I discuss its impact on participating families, children, interns. describe lessons learned during implementation provide suggestions replicating model.
